All teams leave from Portland, Maine. Final destination is Portland, Oregon. |

Each class will have a team name. Your team can be divided up by groups to work on tasks such as transportation, weather, lodging, etc. |

Students
will be responsible for their itinerary. This includes modes of transportation, lodging and food. |
| 4. |

The object of the race is to visit all the required sites between Portland, Maine and Portland, Oregon, getting there the quickest and spending the least amount of money. The team must use at least three forms of transportation and cannot use air travel. Teams much complete all the required activities to win. Forms
can be downloaded and/or used online (login required). |

Sheets - All money spent must be recorded. Prices much be dated
and confirmed. Price of gas, railroad tickets, boat rentals,
etc. must be researched on the internet and be actual prices.
Students must calculate how many gallons of gas they used and
document the cost per gallan of gas when purchased. |

Each
team will budget for one (1) traveler. |
| 6. |

There
are four (4) choices of transportation. Each team must
use at least three (3) modes of transportation. You may
not travel by airplane. |

Automobiles
- Automobiles must be rented. Travel by car cannot exceed 7 hours per day. |

Trains
- Trains must be real trains. Students will have to look up
the train station and schedule on the internet and document
the price of their ticket and arrival and departure times. |

Buses
- Buses must be real buses. Students will have to look up the
bus station and schedule on the internet and document the price
of their ticket and arrival and departure times. |

Boats
- This may be any kind of boat including ferries. Students must
account for the boat rental and any related fees on the accounting
sheet. |

When traveling by car, the team may not travel more than 7 hours per day. |
| 8. |
|
Teachers
are responsible for verifying all travel logs. |
